For a very long time I wanted to forge my own axe, and recently I had the chance to do so. Together a with a good friend we signed up for a workshop axe forging at a blacksmith shop.
Some parts where easy, some parts difficult, and I made one big mistake which resulted in the loss of 2 cm along the width of the blade, but thanks to the great help from the trainers, I still ended up with a nice little carving hatchet.
At home I created a handle, decorated it with some carvings, and it’s done.
I played around with it already and it’s awesome to work with an axe you made yourself!
Shout out to Smederij Zwolle for the professional workshop and guidance.
