2013/12/22 – Wood protection test

There are so many stories about what the best method is to protect your wood handle of an axe or knife.
Therefore I wanted to see it for myself what works and what the consequences are.
Small test on 3 pieces of an axe handle.
– Number 1 without any treatment.
– Number 2 saturated with olive oil.
– Number 3 saturated with olive oil and then rubbed in with bee wax.
I left them outside in the garden, exposed to wind, rain, sun, snow, and temperatures going down to -6 celcius.
