Yearly Archives: 2018
For a long time I wanted to have a skrama, but the handle material is what always stopped me from buying it. So last week I decided to forge one from an old rasp. The rasp was 7mm thick so with lots of hammering I got it down to an […]
Last year I sold my modified Polish Lavvu, where I attached a skirt to create more usable space. Reason was purely the weight. I’m not a camper but a hiker, so I wanted something lighter. Around the same time I was able to buy a second hand Shangri La 3 […]
Two friends from Holland came over and we headed over to the mountains to the north east of Czech Republic, bordering with Poland. It’s a beautiful area, quite rocky here and there. We slept in hammocks, breakfasts from the stoves, dinners from the fires, and most of the time we […]
For our grilling corner we wanted a small table where we could put the food and drinks on during grilling / cooking on the fire. I’ve seen a few pics of tables with axes as legs but with the bit sticking out above the table. With a small kid around […]
With my little cousin we did some metal detecting, in the hope to find some nice old coins. No coins where found, but we did find a big bullet. In this field I found previously several the same bullets as well as casing of it. I offered him to clean […]
With the group of Orion aka The Hiking Rejects, and some close friends, we did a 3 day hike in springtime, through a beautiful part of Czech Republic.
Making a multi-functional axe for my hiking trips. Long and heavy enough to cut down a tree, short and light enough for processing fire wood, and customized head for easier handling during carving.
Making the ultimate food bag for outdoor trips from all leftover materials I had from previous projects and a discarded backpack.
A friend of mine asked me to make this for him. It should be a double bit, leather wrapped, decorated axe. This is how it turned out.
For my wood carving projects I needed a wooden mallet, so I made a simple one, with a ash handle, a beech head, and oak dowels to strengthen it. The wedge is also from oak.
To make nice pictures of outdoor equipment and my axe collection, I made this photo box. I did not go for the usual cardboard box setup, but for something more sturdy as some of the equipment is heavy.
4 day snowshoeing trip with Jeyte in the Czech mountains, testing out the mora kansbol and mora camp axe.
This is the 3rd forge I made from a barbecue, and in this video I am showing you all the steps I take to make it work.
Making a simple cheap lightweight pot stand from 2 bicycle spokes for my Toaks titanium alcohol burner.
