{"id":1492,"date":"2014-11-09T09:36:28","date_gmt":"2014-11-09T08:36:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dabberty.com\/?p=1492"},"modified":"2025-01-28T12:08:49","modified_gmt":"2025-01-28T11:08:49","slug":"20141109-building-a-sawbuck","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dabberty.com\/?p=1492","title":{"rendered":"2014\/11\/09 \u2013 Building a sawbuck"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Winter is coming, and I have lots of wood to cut and chop again \ud83d\ude42 Previously i always cut all the wood to size on the ground, which is far from ideal.<br \/>\nAt the hardware shops around here (3 different ones) to check on a sawbuck, they had mainly wooden and metal ones.<br \/>\nThe metal ones where from sheet metal but looked sturdy, and pricey. The wooden ones where very fragile from thin pieces of wood, and only half the price.<br \/>\nSo I checked the loose components, and found that with using much thicker wood and slightly better design (more wood), the costs where similar like the cheap wooden sawbuck. That&#8217;s what I decided to do, make my own.<\/p>\n<p>Components, 3x 2 meter almost square pieces of wood for the legs, and 3x rectangular 2 meter pieces of wood for the side bars for stability, and some nuts and bolts and washers. Bolt, washer, wood, 2 washers, wood, washer, nut.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/dabberty.com\/?attachment_id=1496\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1496\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-1496\" alt=\"wood-cut-rack_05\" src=\"http:\/\/dabberty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/wood-cut-rack_05.jpg\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Now cutting the side bars in half as well, so each piece 1 meter long.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/dabberty.com\/?attachment_id=1497\" rel=\"attachment sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And screwed it all together, first a small hole with the 3mm wood drill bit, and then the screws in.<br \/>\n<a 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Small test with my new (second hand) Husqvarna 372 XP (5.2 HP), all good \ud83d\ude42<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/dabberty.com\/?attachment_id=1500\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1500\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-1500\" alt=\"wood-cut-rack_09\" src=\"http:\/\/dabberty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/wood-cut-rack_09.jpg\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The wood sits firmly in and the sawbuck is very stable, which made me happy since I never built one of these things before.<br \/>\n<a
